Café Scientifique: The Origins of Qatar and its Historic Towns

Join us to discover the origins of Qatar as seen through recent archaeological investigations conducted by Qatar Museums and UCL Qatar. Professor Robert Carter and Dr Jose Carvajal Lopez will highlight their recent investigations, surveys and excavations in Doha, Fuwairit and Umm-al Ma’a as they discuss the heritage of Qatar. Set within the context of regional trade, settlement and cultural exchange, the discussion moves from the earliest recorded use of the name Qatar through to modern day urban development.
